A little bit of prose inspired by real life:

There. It is the second time you see the food and the beer you ingested tonight. The cool air movement brings freshness to your forehead but it is only temporary. It is time to kneel down again and spill your guts. Mostly liquid this time. You shouldn’t have had so much beer. You shouldn’t have mixed the brands. You should have…. the spirit of rationality is interrupted yet again by the basic body functions: to expunge the contents of the stumach as soon as possible.
It has passed now. It is all over. You can go back inside. No better sit here for just a little longer and think. The backstreet is deserted. The lamposts shed a warm incandecent glow over the empty parking spaces and the overall bordelic nature of the court. Somewhere in the distance a girl is talking loudly and abusively. She must be very drunk. Funny - look who’s talking.

A few minutes pass and you realize how cold you are. The rain is intermittent and where you stand you are only getting a few drops every now and then. Might as well chill here for a bit longer. You know you can’t get up right now so you rather not try it. Just stay put. What is the rush. You could lie down for a little bit but that would not be good. The staircase is wet and someone has puked all over it. Oh well we know who that is.

You get up and move a little to the the other side of the backyard. It is dryer here and you collapse in a more comfortable position. Walking is defenitely not easy and you realize that it will be a good little while before you can climb that back the fire-escape route. You could sleep here after all. It could be done. If only you had the sweater on under the coat - it would have been so much easier.
A cab home - that would be great. Where are your frinds to put you on a cab right now. Probably passed out somewhere aswell.

(this was from a while back after a beer drinking incident…. i have learned not to do this ever again…. i am respecting the alcohol much more now even though it is all-you-can-drink out here.)

So I have been having business and coding ideas during this vacation.
Really a vacation can give you good bit of fresh ideas when done right.

• One: Labels company. A single server that has a bunch of .pdf files that people can download (in 21 languages) and print. For example you can have BATHROOM/WC/TOLEKO/º`–/ and even a nice icon. So this server sits around and it is 5$ per download. Food could be a big thing. Colors too. THings that are difficult to indicate to tourists. Clients: hotels, restaurants and print shops who will resell on plastic or other materials used for signs.
  Of course also with something like this one for more interesting ones.
• Two: A wiki-city based on Google Maps or other alternatives. PHP project for me to learn PHP with and an instance of the good.coding class.
• Three: There sion’t really a three there - i was optimistic when I wrote the html code…

I could open a serious company with my mom. If she teaches english and I teach math this could be a good mini-university. Could happen. Could blend in with the book business. What about the videos…. tutorial videos. what about the wing chun videos…. hmm…. I need a server.

Last day here. I just watched my last sunset on the west coast. Now I have to go back for food and drinks.

Good stuff.

Things out here are amazing. We are in a 3* hotel with the local population. Exploring the city, the beaches and almost getting laid. I found some nice people and I am finding a nice mixture of spending time with the father and with random people who provide me with ganja.

Beach is beautiful. 35 degrees and up and the nights cool off for the best sleep - alcohol recovery time. 650$ for 6 days is an amazing deal for what I am getting.
Sure it is not the best or the safest place (camara got stolen from the room…) you could find but it is nice.

I think I will come back here again.

Yesterday we went to a remote beach in the north of the city. Only 5 million + houses there. The entire coast is split up by rock formations into nice discrete (in both senses of the word) beaches. There were 2-10 people on each beach. We walked on the rocks for quite a while and it continues like that for miles. Only nice villas and pitturesque beaches. The sand there is like gold too. We played a football game with this canadian family and then I burned one sitting on a rock watching the sunset.

I need to wear my glasses more because I have been attempting pickup lines on some pretty horrible old creatures that look - from far like the sweetes long legged chix. Or sometimes a chick and her mother…. defenitely offering to smoke to a chick and her mother isn’t a good idea…. oh man.

Ok - now I am off to the marina trying to find the Alcoholic Captain of the Nautilus. Peace out all of youz.

What kind of vacation starts at 4AM in the middle of the fierce cold of Montreal.
The flight is at 7AM but there is administrative business to take care of before that. I didn’t go to bed and now I am feeling pretty rough. All the assignments have made me kind of tough though. My body can handle quite a bit of disrespect before it brakes down.

Can’t wait to be on the beach.

This was the last assignment today. Easy one just like a nice tap going out the door. The exam yesterday was adequate too so this is a good exit from this somewhat tough semster.

Hmm. I see now how this grades business could get your head. PRofessors are asking unrealistic things to test you out if you can handle it. Failure. In your research in your attempts at attacking the problem and in organizational skill. Well I have money from NSERC so I really don’t have to worry about being presecuted for anything though.

Was there ever any indication that I had a talent and that I should practice: No. It was just that the Vancouver gang was too polite (and too stoned … ) to tell me to shut-up.
The guitar though - that was an authentic discovery. You just have to practice.

The exam was about a 1um X 100um X 100nm slab of GaAs crystal that has been grown “with a temperature gradient along the 1um axis”. While the crystal was growing there was Si in the air so presumably there was some doping going on. I assumed it was doping the Ga sites in the lattice thus acting as a donor impurity.

From this point on it was all about stating your assumptions and bullshiting until Landau, Fermi and Pauli are spinning in their graves. I perfomred marvellously at the bullshiting part and I might have even found a section in Ashkroft that is actually relevant.

A lot of people did very poorly so I think I will pass this one. Maybe even get an A-. A is out of the picture but a B or B+ will not come as a surprize either. Do we really care — see last post.

Thursday I am leaving for Puerto Vallarta the hotel Puntarena. 600$ all inclusive 6 days (back on the 21st). Should be good.

I have been reading this comic all day. I am going to do very poorly on the Solid State exam and I am somehow impartial to the whole thing. I am like a spectator looking at other people stressing out all the time and achieveing KNOWLEDGE in the field.

I have no desire to learn that material so I will make no effort. This is who I am. Call me weak, call me an idiot. This is who I be.

There has been a price drop for Christmas. Maybe it is time I finally bought it - what do youz think?
Or there is the little brother for half the price.

Of course this will entail a purchase of a good computer to go with it too. Like a proper case with a proper AMD64 chip and a graphics card capable of driving this beast at the resolution in DVI.

2000$ of computer parts. Am-I missing something right now? Do I really need all this? I would’t know. I have never had a good computer in my life… The monitor will last practically forever and the computer is going to be useful for a few years at least.
So the monitor will cost me over 6 years 1140/6/12 = 15$ per month.
The computer will be another expense.
I see Dell has financing though. That could be kind-of-cool. Overall 200$ extra over 2 years but i get to keep my monay today.

Or I could NOT buy any of this and invest in the house instead….
